Clementine and the Spring Trip by Sara Pennypacker, illustrated by Marla Frazee
CLEMENTINE AND THE SPRING TRIP BY SARA PENNYPACKER, ILLUSTRATED BY MARLA FRAZEE (Hyperion, 2013)
Clementine is in 3rd grade and it is time for the springtime trip to Plimoth Plantation. Clementine is worried about her friend Margaret who is becoming more and more concerned about germs. She also worries that she eats too loud (Margaret told her the 4th graders don’t like that) and is in search of quiet foods. Clementine is forced to break the silent eating rule and realizes that rules are sometimes meant to be broken and that sometimes things just change. Clementine is still the kind-hearted and just a bit flaky heroine we have grown to love over the course of (now) 6 books. As far as I am concerned, Clementine will always find a spot on my bookshelf.
